Frankfurt Zoo
Frankfurt offered a Zoo which was lauded for it's natural habitats. The weather was not too cooperative however and so although the animals had these wonderful outdoor enclosures, we saw most of them keeping dry indoors. Oftentimes we commented that the animals seemed to be the smart ones that day. Although the weather was drizzly it wasn't unmanageable and we enjoyed ourselves quite a bit seeing some animals we've seen before (albeit this time closer than others) and some that we've never even heard of (like the clouded leopard which was becoming a new papa the day we visited). They had a whole building dedicated to nocturnal animals but unfortunately their photos turned out pitch black so they've not been published in the album.
David got the monkeys all worked up . . in actuality it was feeding time when we arrived to see the monkeys.
The following two are of a room where the birds freely wander and there is a bench and such for you to sit and enjoy the tranquility.
This bird had the oddest call and his head snaps back like a pez dispenser. Unfortunately I held the camera the wrong direction for video so you'll have to watch him sideways. Sorry about that, we're still learning.
When we returned to the lions at the end of our visit, the male had a large bone and I found it fascinating to watch him gnaw on it. There is such power in those jaws and paws. The female was pacing.
